The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.

This is for the guys who escort their drunk, bewildered female friends back from parties and never take advantage once they’re at her door, for the guys who accompany girls to bars as buffers against the rest of the creepy male population, for the guys who know a girl is fishing for compliments but give them out anyway, for the guys who always play by the rules in a game where the rules favor cheaters, for the guys who are accredited as boyfriend material but somehow don’t end up being boyfriends, for all the nice guys who are overlooked, underestimated, and unappreciated, for all the nice guys who are manipulated, misled, and unjustly abandoned, this is for you.

This is for that time she left 40 urgent messages on your cell phone, and when you called her back, she spent three hours painstakingly dissecting two sentences her boyfriend said to her over dinner. And even though you thought her boyfriend was a chump and a jerk, you assured her that it was all ok and she shouldn’t worry about it. This is for that time she interrupted the best killing spree you’d ever orchestrated in GTA3 to rant about a rumor that romantically linked her and the guy she thinks is the most repulsive person in the world. And even though you thought it was immature and you had nothing against the guy, you paused the game for two hours and helped her concoct a counter-rumor to spread around the floor. This is also for that time she didn’t have a date, so after numerous vows that there was nothing “serious” between the two of you, she dragged you to a party where you knew nobody, the beer was awful, and she flirted shamelessly with you, justifying each fit of reckless teasing by announcing to everyone: “oh, but we’re just friends!” And even though you were invited purely as a symbolic warm body for her ego, you went anyways. Because you’re nice like that.

The nice guys don’t often get credit where credit is due. And perhaps more disturbing, the nice guys don’t seem to get laid as often as they should. And I wish I could logically explain this trend, but I can’t. From what I have observed on campus and what I have learned from talking to friends at other schools and in the workplace, the only conclusion I can form is that many girls are just illogical, manipulative bitches. Many of them claim they just want to date a nice guy, but when presented with such a specimen, they say irrational, confusing things such as “oh, he’s too nice to date” or “he would be a good boyfriend but he’s not for me” or “he already puts up with so much from me, I couldn’t possibly ask him out!” or the most frustrating of all: “no, it would ruin our friendship.” Yet, they continue to lament the lack of datable men in the world, and they expect their too-nice-to-date male friends to sympathize and apologize for the men that are jerks. Sorry, guys, girls like that are beyond my ability to fathom. I can’t figure out why the connection breaks down between what they say (I want a nice guy!) and what they do (I’m going to sleep with this complete ass now!). But one thing I can do, is say that the nice-guy-finishes-last phenomenon doesn’t last forever. There are definitely many girls who grow out of that train of thought and realize they should be dating the nice guys, not taking them for granted. The tricky part is finding those girls, and even trickier, finding the ones that are single.

So, until those girls are found, I propose a toast to all the nice guys. You know who you are, and I know you’re sick of hearing yourself described as ubiquitously nice. But the truth of the matter is, the world needs your patience in the department store, your holding open of doors, your party escorting services, your propensity to be a sucker for a pretty smile. For all the crazy, inane, absurd things you tolerate, for all the situations where you are the faceless, nameless hero, my accolades, my acknowledgement, and my gratitude go out to you. You do have credibility in this society, and your well deserved vindication is coming.

Fu-zu Jen, SEAS/WH, 2003

A Piece of Paper

So it seems as though the Iraqi Constitution has in fact passed. Well I have been vindicated. 78% of the Iraqi people voted for the constitution, only 2 provinces getting 2/3's of their population (it required 3 counties with this percentage for the constitution to be vetoed).

CSA The Movie

There is a new Spike Lee movie coming out called CSA: Confederate States of America. The movie asks the question: What if the South had won? Lee depicts the current United States as one still engrossed in slavery. What is really intriguing is the fact that this movie is filmed in a documentary-like fasion. They have created an alternate universe, and allowed the Confederate States of America do make policy decisions of our past.

Rhetorically, I find this immenesly interesting. Aside from that, I think that the movie is factually retarded. The South was slowly moving away from slavery, and yet in the movie, it still persists in 2005.

Here is the website to view the trailer. Inititally a fake ebay site called "eslave" will come up auctioning off slaves. Click any one of the links and they will take you to the index site with the trailer. I would like some feedback on what you think.

www.csathemovie.com

Turkey is Delicious! (and being wronged)

So, Turkey is angry because their talks about membership in the EU are being stalled.

From what I know, Turkey has complied with all of the terms given to them at the Copenhagen Convention. This convention set the ground rules for things Turkey had to achieve before it could be admitted to the Union.

Turkey is just trying to get a copy of the ground rules for this upcoming membership talks. I understand Turkey.... I know where you are coming from. They don't want these talks to be intellectual masterbation: talking for the sake of talking. They want somewhere to go, for promises to be kept, and I do too.

Personally, I think the EU is a bunch of uptight, pretentious pricks. They think of themselves as better than everyone else. And I know, we do some of the same things... but the difference is, no one criticizes them. I mean we give subsidies to farmers and crush other markets (especially Africa). But so does the EU!! They allow their countries to do the same thing and crush other countries, why don't people criticize them? Furthermore, they were bitching about our steel tariffs when it is esentially the same thing as the subsidies....

I say we stop letting them get away with all of this. It's simple, if you criticize the U.S. for something and the EU is doing the same thing, critcize them too! Oh and by the way, give Turkey the ground rules. Give them a chance. Don't be liars. And for goodness sake....stop masterbating!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thenewrepublican.blogspot.com/2005/09/turkey-is-delicious-and-being-wronged.html' title='Turkey is Delicious! I find this to be absolutely awesome! Of course, there is one downside: it will be run by Linux.

I am a Mac man. I have an iBook and I am absolutely in love with it. I think that the Mac OS is by far the most user friendly, and the most stable by far. Thus, I would much rather have this laptop be run by Mac. However, I do understand why.

Linux is by far the cheapest quasi-mainstream OS on the market. It is also more stable than Windows, making it, to me, more advantageous to Windows. To me it is the lesser of the two evils, and thus, I am OK with MIT doing this.

I love the fact that they are trying to get every single person to have a computer. To make it so affordable, that anyone can get a hold of something that is so vital in our current society.

So, what is the moral of the story? I say support this company when it comes out, do not shun (spelling?) it just because it is not windows. It says that things went wrong. Thats really about it. Aren't they accountable? Annan said that he takes responsibility... but, that he won't resign. Why? That is responsibility, being accountable for your actions, or in this case non-action that gave a dictator 100 billion dollars that should have gone to his people. Annan and all of the government officials who either let this happen, or worked the deals to get Saddam his money need to be dealt with. I don't see why.... I mean think of it this way, Roberts was going to replace O'Conner and she was slightly left....that change would slightly alter the court and there was little heat about it prior to his death. Rehnquist was a die hard conservative, he was even worse than me, and there is really no one on President Bush's list that could ever top him. Why do we name hurricanes with realistic "people names?" These things are horrible!! I mean the do absolutely no good....They kill and destroy. We should be naming them after demons.... Or, if people really want them to be more "close to home," then why don't we name them after people who do similar things? Like, Hurricane Bundy....yes, I like the ring to that....

What is really freaky, is that this event was kinda predicted by a F/X movie. I forgot what it is called, but a big hurricane slams into New Orleans and the price of gas skyrockets. After that, seeing as how the New Orleans Port is down, all traffic has to be diverted to the Port of Houston. After that two tankers collide in the port and shut it down for about 3 weeks... of course gas skyrockets again. The only problem with the movie, is that gas prices were up to like 8 dollars a gallon, people in the northeast were dying because they had no heat in there houses....and the government in this movie never suggested ANWR.....I wonder who made this movie....Democrats anyone?

My Bad.....

Sorry that I haven't posted at all for like 3 weeks....but I do have my reasons..... About 2 and a 1/2 weeks ago I went to Dallas for a vending convention....after that I proceeded to go to Springfield, Missouri for debate camp (yes, that right...debate camp). After about a week of that, I went south to New Orleans for 3 days (got wasted and sang Karaoke with Chris Lord), then went to Baton Rouge for a day, then back to Houston. Right when I get back I get a sinus infection which I still have, but am pretty much paralyzed for 3 more days.... So that's my story and I am sticking to it....Also, I wont be able to post for another week due to a debate retreat....so until then...Peace Out!

I Knew It!

I knew it! Only this time, 2 weeks to the day terrorists killed 56 of the English (Scotland prevails... I like their accent better), the terrorists were unsuccessful. That is the primary reason why I find this tried bombing to be of a copycat. These were not Muslim extremists, they are more experienced and are very patient. They know when to strike and how to strike. 9/11 took years, this last bombing took months, if not longer, so they would not try the same bombing in the same location again merely 2 weeks later...and then be unsuccessful. This was a copycat, but you can be sure the terrorists will strike again, this I can assure you.

Mirror image terror attacks hit London but carnage not repeated

London was struck by a virtually identical repeat of the July 7 attacks as three subway trains and a bus were targeted with bombs, but this time carnage was averted as the devices apparently failed to explode.

Karl Rove....Damnit....I Am RIGHT!

Ok, this is the last post on this issue. I am going to going to explain, step by step, why Bush is not backtracking from his previous statements. Many Liberals are accusing Bush of adding an extra qualifier to his previous statements about the CIA leak. They say that last summer Bush said that he would fire anyone who leaked Plame's name. Yesterday, Bush said that he would fire anyone who committed an illegal act. The press is spinning this as Bush upping the bar for who gets fired....this is simply not the case. Lets look at what Bush really said.

September 30th, 2003:

"If there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is," the president told reporters back then. "And if the person has violated [the] law, the person will be taken care of."

June 10th, 2004:

A reporter asked if Bush stood by his earlier pledge to fire anyone found to have leaked Plame's name. (Remember, his pledge was not to fire anyone who leaked the information, rather to fire anyone who committed a crime. So the question itself is a trap/incorrect)

Bush answered, "Yes. And that's up to the U.S. attorney to find the facts." (Notice that Bush said yes to complying with his previous position. Furthermore, the fact that he added this part about the U.S. attorney furthers the fact that he was talking about a criminal act)

So...there you have it folks, proof that George Bush never increased the stakes, he kept them on the same track.

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/7/18/224504.shtml

Supreme Court Nomination

President Bush nominated John G. Recently, a New York Times jounalist was sent to jail and held in contept of court for not revealing her source in the leaking of a CIA agent's name. This is because the leaking of this name is a crime and they are trying to find out who, in fact, was the culprit. Today, 36 news agencies (the very same ones who are saying Karl Rove should be fired) filed a breif with the court saying that the jounalist should not be held in contept because it is only a crime if the CIA was trying to protect her name. They write in the brief that on two seperate occasions, the CIA released this agents name, and thus, the reporter should not be detained. This is all well and good, if not for one problem... they are still calling for the firing of a Mr. Karl Rove. If, in fact this evidence is true, and a crime was not committed in the leaking, then why does the very same media which claims the CIA had leaked her name twice earliar, still go after Karl Rove. Naturally, wouldn't THEIR evidence say that the real ones to blame is the Central Intelligence Agency? If this doesn't prove the left leaning bias of the media...I don't know what can. All I can say is that liberals have been in denail for year, and will be in denail for years to come.

I am going to go out on a limb on this one...but I am going to make a prediction. I predict that Karl Rove does not get fired. If I am correct, I will have predicted the future correctly 100% of the time, and thus, am irrefutable! (<----- Jab at Rush Limbaugh and his 98% accuracy rating on future predictions)

Guantanamo Bay

Allrighty, so, a lot of my left leaning friends always complain about Guantanamo Bay and how we are abusing prisoners there. The only reason they believe this is because some democrats have said this to be true in front of the Senate floor, and because, they think that the United States governement can ONLY do harm. What they fail to realize is the facts involved in this matter. The United States just finished an investigation into the allegations of prisoner abuse, and found only one case in which it had occured. It was not anything grave that had been described, such as a prisoner wallowing in his own feaces, but rather, him having to put women's panties on his head. Not so bad, hell, I haven't even gotten that close! Anyway, there are infinatly more reports coming out of Guantanamo Bay saying that we are being too nice. We give the 20-25 minutes to pray whenever they want, they have like 25 meals they can choose from... and, if you come into Guantanamo Bay without a leg, our tax payers will surely foot the bill.

The Gitmo Varsity

GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA -- Abdullah M. was missing a leg when he got to Gitmo. In due course, he was fitted with a prosthetic leg and given occupational therapy to teach him how to use it. In the Orwellian inversion that dominates "world opinion" and requires us to prove we're the good guys, he was interrogated and -- after convincing our guys that he really wasn't a terrorist fanatic -- released and repatriated to Afghanistan. Now sought for involvement in the kidnapping of Chinese engineers and a bombing of the Islamabad Marriott, Abdullah is walking around on the artificial leg we evil Americans paid for.
We Americans are being too nice. We care too much about world opinion. It is because of this fact that we are loosing the War on Terror. We need to rise up and just be oursleves, I mean we all have been taught to be individuals and not followers. So who cares if France and Germany are whining and complaining. I say we need to respect the human rights of these people, but at the same time, go as far as we can to extrapolate the knowledge they have. Screw the liberals....we should do it my way.

Nukes

So everyone (and by everyone I mean liberals) for the past 60 (or so) years has been whining and complaining about the United States nuking Japan. First: get over it, it was 60 years ago. Second: it was the only logical thing to do. If we were to go in, which is what we were going to do had we not of nuked, casualties were in the millions as opposed to the hundreds of thousancs lost in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Furthermore, we would have invaded Tokyo which would have crushed whatever economy they had left to rebuild. So...we cool on that? Great. Now lets get on to the fun part.

Top Chinese general warns US over attack

China is prepared to use nuclear weapons against the US if it is attacked by Washington during a confrontation over Taiwan, a Chinese general said on Thursday.

“If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons,” said General Zhu Chenghu.
So where do we go from here? Every day I go to news.google.com to check up on the world, and every day my heart sinks a bit more. Why? Because this country is laced in a state of fear. Its like we have to have something that we are afraid of at all times. I mean, just look at these headlines:

27 People, Many Children, Killed by Bomber in Baghdad
Emily picks up steam
Teenager faces seven rape charges
Pa.: Nearly 12,000 Patients Got Infections
Update 8: Oil Prices Near $61 Despite Energy Report
Teen critical after Terror ride
The Logic of Suicide Terrorism (WTF...there is no logic)

As you can see the news is all negative. Now, the APA has done a complete 180 and said that they cannot test for chemical imbalances. Well if you cannot test for chemical imbalances, how can you prove that they exist at all, or if they are linked to all these mental disorders that you claim exist? The answer is you cannot....without a test to prove conclusivly that chemical imbalances exist, one cannot attribute them to people acting weird (oh is that not pc?). About a year ago, or however long it was, someone leaked the name of a CIA operative to the press. Newsweek, claims to have an email saying that Karl Rove was the one to leak it. I am not one to cast judgment, but whoever did this needs to be canned and tried for leaking aout classified documents. I say, let the investigation end. Remember when everyone knew that Bush missed his national gaurd duty due to documents that CBS had? Turns out the documents were false...the same could be true here. Wait for the investigation to be over. If at that time, Karl Rove did turn out to leak it, fire him and bring him up on criminal charges...until then...quit your bitching.

North Korea

So everyone is soooooo happy that North Korea is coming back to the table to talk. Well you know what....I am not. Why, Gianpaolo...you might be asking yourself. It is simple: their is nothing to talk about! We have been through this before....anybody remember 1994? Sunshine Accords? We talked, and talked, and gave them everything they wanted.... Then they go and break the treaty and start mining Uranium. Bush said that we will accept nothing less than Kim giving up all their nuclear stuff.....so what is their to talk about?! The only words that should be coming out of Kim's mouth, "We are giving up all our nuclear weapons." After that...we can take it from there.

Family Business

You know, I came back to houston for a month with assurances from my father (had them before) that I would be utilizing the skills that I have learned in college (communication studies degree) by doing sales calls. I have worked at least 5 summers for my father, all of which have been spent in the warehouse, doing grunt work. This work was o.k. for those summers, because I mean, I need to learn different facets of the company, and experiance them all. But I have overcome, I have been in the blistering heat and humidity of Houston while moving 1000 lb. machine. I have delivered 50 lb. bags of quarters while a "hurricane" swept through the town (yes, i was wearing a white shirt...too bad for you). I have worked countless 14 hour days starting at 4 A.m. with basically no breaks. Now however, I would like to use a different muscle, it is called the "brain." Is that too much to ask? No more moving machines, no more coin deposits, no more cleaning machines for an install.... Any suggestions on how?

Global Warming

To all you democrats.... @#!$& OFF! Through the years I have come to maturity with my position on global warming. When I was young, I said nothing was happening because my dad said nothing was happening. Later in life I said nothing was happening because I had read one bit of evidence. But now, as I have grown older, and wiser, I KNOW nothing is happening because nothing is happening. I mean the Earth has been warmer and colder than it is today, where were the greenhouse gasses then? Their was a 40 year period were greenhouse gasses were going up, but global temerature was going down...whats up with that? A lot of the data on temperature increases are taken in metropolitan areas....yet no one takes into account the heat island effect. And whats really cool, is a new article that Keith sent me saying that our pollution is actually saving us!!! Read it, it is interesting. http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn7607

Sorry for not posting recently, I was in San Antonio for July 4th with my family. We have some customs that many Americans would see as "rude," or "uncultured." As of now I am sitting in my living room, with merely a towel on. I do this regularly, because clothes are a hindrance. We Italians have a side of oursleves that is just loving life. We like to experiance it in it's entirity. People in Italy walk outside into the streets without shirts on because we understand each other. This is why I often do not put shirts on in my own home. It just feels better.... So when my close friends come over, I sometimes forget to put on my shirt for them, and they are appalled.... Why? It is a human body, one that God created....it is perfect in it's own way. So if you ever see me without a shirt on, realize that they are just "man boobs," nothing more. They are not unsettling, but rather just genetics.

Sleep

Sleep is a wonderful thing. I was told by my prof. that kosher meat does not have to be blessed, which was shocking because i always thought it had to be. So I told my friends, and like always I was told I was wrong, because their was a scare in Lubbock where they didn't bless the meat and a bunch of Jews were pissed. Well, I say to you, they are wrong!! Kosher just means fit to eat. It has to be from a split hooved animal, like a cow, no pigs. And it has to be de-veined and other stuff, but no blessing...so the moral of the story....Shut up and look it up!

http://www.ou.org/kosher/kosherqa/supervis.htm#7

Perplexed

I have always wondered...what the fuck is wrong with people who are for the death penalty? I am a conservative, and a damn stong one at that, but for the life of me I cannot understand why people would ever be for this...I mean, we conservatives are "pro-life" because we believe in the sacredness of life. So to should we place that value on people on death row. Furthermore, what if we made a mistake? I mean we are human, we do make mistakes...so why would we ever have a punishment so absolute as the death penalty? Now, as I speak in hypotheticals, I also would not have parol for murderers. Oh, and none of this cable tv and other stuff that these guys have now. I have to say, that morals get shaped here, and of course, it is a right of passage. To be even more specific, it is a breeding ground for liberals. I have stayed alive here because of one reason: information. The best way to decribe this place is an episode of South Park, where hippies come into town, and brainwash kids into thinking that the government is bad and that the corporations are running this country. The kids play along, thinkning they can help change the world, only to find that the hippies just listen to music and chill all day and never do anything! The same is true with college. Most liberals here think that talking about capitalism or corporate wrongdoings will do something. It won't unless you do something. So i say, "live on capitalism!" because you are self correcting and all those in opposition will sit there and listen to music!

Things in my Head

So, have you ever turned on iTunes visuals, and just lept into your computer screen? I woke up this morning to a truly horrifying dream. I was in Houston, and somehow, during my sleep, someone had punctured my bronchial tubes to where I was not bleeding, but could not be repaired. A doctor said he could do nothing, and that I was going to die today, the time was not certain, because I was losing air slowly and would die due to suffocation (the worst way to die, EVER). It was the weirdest dream because I was confronting everyone telling them how much I loved them, making my peace with God...etc. What was worse, is that the day kept progressing , and I was not dying, so death was becoming more and imminent. All, I know is that I was freaked out by these dream, and it was probably the worst nightmare I have ever had.

Feel free to try and interpret my dream and post your comments.

This Society Is Going To Hell In A Handbasket

Ok, so I just got back from Kevin's house, so I am in a good mood. That is the first part of the pain for the day... The Second part is a bit more disturbing because it is happening to humans...four college students were kidnapped when they were protesting Coca-Cola on World Earth Day. Their names are: LIZANDRO PERRIL, OMAR PERRIL, WALTER CARCAMO and BERNARDO CHARRIS. Boycott coke for yet another reason.

The Start

I decided to start this blog for one reason: to give people a more in depth look of who I really am and what I stand for.

As time progresses we will be looking into many ideas that shape our political arena, along with some personal information about myself and my feelings at the time.

Today I'm Feeling: Empty
Todays Fortune: Ask no questions, and you shall receive no lies ~Charles Dickens~
Current Song: Luna ~Alessandro Safina~

Smoking DOESN'T Kill

Ok, so I have heard Joe out on a lot of weird arguments. The one that I thought had the least merit, however, has turned out to be one that is actually founded on science. Now I know you are all wondering what argument this could be; well, quite simply it is that smoking doesn’t kill... well, second hand smoke doesn’t kill, that is.

Now I know, I know…. it seems ludicrous, I mean we all know that it does, like we know that the Earth is round, right? Wrong. All of the research that says second hand smoke kills is based on an EPA report from 1993. A congressional inquiry, Judge Osteen (Federal Judge on the case), The US Congressional Research Service (GAO), the Department of Energy, and The Australian Supreme Court have all concluded that the report was misguided and that their findings were not measured correctly.

The World Health Organization did a 10 year study to see if second hand smoke actually affected people. Their findings: statistically there is no risk on your health if you live with or work with a smoker, but if you want to get down to specifics, there was a slight decrease in occurance of lung cancer in those living with smokers. Furthermore, the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study, focused on roughly 40,000 smokers for about 40 years -- they had the exact same findings as the WHO…conspiracy.

So, I urge you, stop the discrimination. Smokers are people too.
